KARU

CONSTRUCTION OF TWO STOREY PORTAL FRAME STRUCTURE AT KARU MARKET ABUJA

Portal frame structures are basically a rigid frame which has the basic characteristic of a rigid joint between the column and the beams. Our idea of this type of structure is to reduce the bending moment in every part of the structural element thus, allowing the frame to act as a one structural unit. Basically, in most concrete structure the transfer of stress from the beam to the column or among the structural element can cause rotation movement at the foundation which causes overturning moment leading to the anticipated collapse of the structure. This defined problem can be overcome by the introduction of a pin or hinge joint. This joint allows for free rotation to take place at the point of fixity while transmitting both load and shear forces from one member to another.

The knowledge of portal frame structure is rear and scarce among professionals in the construction industry. The mechanics and logistic calculation behind its construction require high level of professionalism. At Aek Construction Company our building professionals are well vest with the method of advance construction and industrialize building system thus, our idea on portal frame span from single span portal frame to multi span portal frame which has the capacity of spanning over the entire length of the building with less or no intermediate support thus, allowing more working space across the entire room area.
